MIAMI (Sept. 17, 2018) – After his electric game against UMass on Saturday, FIU football's
Maurice Alexander was named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll, the organization announced on Monday.

Alexander returned a punt 69 yards for a touchdown, adding to his stellar all-around night in the Panthers' 63-24 victory over the Minutemen on Saturday. The redshirt junior also caught a touchdown pass earlier in the contest, becoming the first Panther ever to earn a punt return and receiving touchdown in the same game.

This is the first season Alexander has played at the wide receiver position, after making the mover from quarterback over the offseason. Alexander has earned 92 yards receiving this season on six catches, while hauling in two scores.

On special teams, Alexander averages 27.2 yards per punt return, which ranks sixth overall in the nation. Alexander finished the game with 190 all-purpose yards, which is a career-high and the most of any Panther this season.

By virtue of making the Honor Roll, Alexander has been added to the Paul Hornung Award on-line voting app powered by Texas Roadhouse. FIU fans are encouraged to cast their votes for Alexander as often as once every 24 hours at
paulhornungaward.com. Voting will continue through Nov. 3.

A national selection committee comprised of 17 sports journalists and former NFL stars votes for the Hornung Award finalists and the winner, with the fan vote comprising the 18th vote.
FIU will face Miami this Saturday, as the Panthers and Hurricanes square off at 3:30 p.m. ET from Hard Rock Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN2. For those interested in purchasing tickets, click
