DALLAS (Oct. 17, 2019) - On the heels of a successful junior campaign with the FIU men's basketball team last season,
Devon Andrews was named to the Conference USA Preseason Team, the league announced on Thursday.
The announcement comes ahead of Monday's C-USA Media Day, that will be held in Frisco, Texas. Thursday's preseason list was decided in a poll by the league's head coaches.
Andrews is FIU's leading returning scorer after averaging 15.3 points per contest in his first season with the Panthers. Andrews transferred to FIU after playing at Pratt Community College in 2016-17. In addition to ranking second on the team in scoring, the Lorain, Ohio native also ranked second on the squad for rebounding after grabbing 5.1 boards per outing. Andrews is FIU's first preseason team honoree since Adrian Diaz in 2015-16.
The 2018-19 season was one of the most successful in school history for the FIU men's basketball program, as head coach
Jeremy Ballard led the squad to a 20-win season in just his first year with the Panthers. FIU advanced to its second postseason appearance in program history and its first since taking part in the 1995 NCAA Tournament against UCLA, as the Panthers earned the program's first postseason win after downing Texas State in the Collegeinsider.com Tournament.
The Panthers will open the new basketball season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 as FIU travels to SEC-foe Mississippi State. For fans interested in purchasing season tickets click

The Hilltoppers have earned back-to-back C-USA title game appearances under head coach Rick Stansbury and are returning four starters who each averaged double-figures a year ago. FIU was selected to finish 10th overall.
The 25th season of C-USA men's basketball commences on Tuesday, Nov. 5, culminating in the 2020 Conference USA Basketball Championships presented by Baylor Scott & White Sports Performance Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, March 11-14. For the third-consecutive year, C-USA will serve as host with the championship final slated for Saturday, March 14, at 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network.
