FORT MYERS, Florida (Oct. 6, 2019) - The FIU women's tennis team capped their first fall tournament of the season after spending three days in Fort Myers to compete in the Bedford Cup.
Freshman
Francisca Vergara, who was seeded number one in the Singles C bracket, advanced to the championship round of the flight but came up empty handed and lost in straight-sets to Lucie Renault, 6-3, 6-2.
Fellow freshman
Kristina Miletic held her own in the singles B consolation play, as she took down Valentina Mariotto, 6-3, 6-1. With the win, the rookie's singles record improves to 2-1 overall after taking down two of her last three opponents.
Also on the court for the Panthers, was the doubles tandem of junior
Sandra Bozinovic and senior
Maria Turrillo who dropped a 6-3 decision in the doubles A consolation bracket.
UP NEXT
FIU travels to Tallahassee on Oct. 18 as the Panthers compete in the ITA Regional Tournament.
