Alexis Johns earns first C-USA honor

DALLAS (May 7, 2019) - After her stellar first season with the Panthers, FIU softball's Alexis Johns was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team, the league announced on Tuesday.

Johns was one of 11 selections for the C-USA All-Freshman squad.

The Sarasota, Florida native played in 48 of FIU's games on the year, as she helped the Panthers to a winning season overall. Johns ranked third on the squad in batting average in her first year, after earning a .281 mark at the plate. The freshman hit .400 in C-USA games, which ranked fifth in the league and second among conference freshmen. Johns racked up 38 hits on the year, with eight runs batted in and swiping 12 bases on the season. In the field, Johns posted a .985 fielding percentage, while earning 62 putouts and three assists on the year.

All 12 C-USA teams were recognized at least once on the list of all-conference winners. Louisiana Tech topped all schools with seven selections, while North Texas and WKU each grabbed five. Marshall and Southern Miss hoisted four each.
