MIAMI (July 12, 2019) – With the mid-way point of the college basketball summer workout season among us, FIU men's basketball Head Coach
Jeremy Ballard, along with the rest of the Panthers, have hit the ground running looking to build upon one of the most successful seasons in program history.
The Blue and Gold, who return four of their five starters, also welcome seven newcomers to the 2019-20 roster. The Panthers are using the off-season to build chemistry and become accustomed to Ballard's uptempo style of play on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
FIU, who finished last season 20-14 overall and 10-8 in Conference USA play, is coming off its first 20-win campaign since 1997-98, along with its first postseason tournament appearance since the 1995 NCAA Tournament. The Panthers took part in the Collegeinsider.com Tournament where they registered their first-ever postseason tournament win, defeating Texas State, 87-81, in the first round.
FIUSports.com had the opportunity to catch up with Ballard, along with returnees
Osasumwen Osaghae,
Devon Andrews and
Trejon Jacob, and newcomers
Dimon Carrigan and
Blake Furcron about the Panthers' off-season workouts.
