MIAMI (May 26, 2020) – FIU men's basketball head coach Jeremy Ballard announced the addition of four athletes to his 2020-21 squad on Tuesday. The players join a Panther program that posted back-to-back winning seasons during Ballard's first two years as a head coach.
Radshad Davis | Nassau, Bahamas | UT Arlington
A transfer from UT Arlington, Davis played in all 32 of the Mavericks games in 2019-20, making nine starts. He averaged 8.5 points while shooting 49.5% from the field and recorded 6.2 rebounds per game last season. For his overall career, the Nassau Bahamas native shoots 54% from the field and averages six rebounds per outing. Prior to his time at UTA, Davis spent two seasons at Missouri State-West Plains.
JaVaunte Hawkins | Lee's Summit, Mo. | Butler CC
Hawkins joins the Panthers after spending his freshman campaign at Butler Community College. During his time with the Grizzlies, he averaged 14.2 points and 3.0 assists per contest. Hawkins shot 38.5% from the field, 36.8% from beyond the arc and 85.7%Â from the charity stripe during his first collegiate season. The point guard received Honorable Mention All-Region VI honors and also was named to the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All-Conference team.
Petar Krivokapic | Budva, Montenegro | Miami Prep School
Krivokapic remains in the Sunshine State after spending last year at Miami Prep School. The guard averaged 25.8 points per contest while posting 6.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists per outing. The Budva, Montenegro, native went 63.6% from three and helped Miami Prep to a 41-5 record during his time with the program.
D.J. Mitchell | Washington D.C. | Hutchinson CC
Mitchell comes to FIU after spending two seasons at Hutchinson Community College. Last year, the Washington D.C. native averaged a team-high 14.3 points per game while playing in 30 contests. He shot 43.2% from the field overall and 32.3% from beyond the arc last year. The guard was named an All-Jayhawk West honorable mention during his sophomore campaign. As a freshman, Mitchell was second on the squad with 13.8 points per appearance while shooting 44.2% from the field.
