MIAMI (June 25, 2020) - Next up in our Q&A series with FIU women's tennis is Kristina Miletic. Coming off of her rookie season with the Panthers, she reflects on memories, teammates and what it means to be a student-athlete.

In her first season at FIU, she was tabbed to the C-USA Freshman Team after earning an 11-3 record overall in singles play and sporting a 6-1 mark from the No. 5 position. In her Panther debut at the Bedford Cup (Oct. 4-8) she won three of her four matches, making it to the final round of the singles B flight consolation bracket. Miletic closed out the season with a win over Boston's Alex Angyalosy (6-3,6-4). Paired with Sandra Bozinovic in doubles play, the duo earned an 8-3 overall record and were undefeated from the No. 2 position.

Q: What does it mean to be a student-athlete at FIU?
A: Being a student-athlete at FIU means being responsible and disciplined in order to be the best as possible in both tennis and school. It also gives a huge opportunity and a brighter future because it opens new points of view. Also, being a Panther is very honorable and that feeling is amazing.

Q: What has been your most memorable experience as a student-athlete?
A: It's really hard to choose one memorable experience because every match is very important to me. However, the match against North Texas was special because that was our first conference win of the season.

Q: How has being a student-athlete at FIU made an impact on you as a person?
A: Being a student-athlete has helped me to become a mature person. Even though it has only been a year, I have learned that time management, responsibility and discipline are very important no matter what we do. Also, I learned that there are no excuses in anything and that's the only way to achieve a goal.

Q: Who is the funniest teammate?
A: Basak Akbas.

Q: Growing up playing tennis, was there an athlete that inspired you?
A:  Novak Djokovic is my inspiration for tennis. I have been watching him since I was a kid, and his attitude on and off the court has been my inspiration since. He has had so many difficulties that he's overcome by working hard and not giving up. Also, one of the most important things that I saw in him is how he's competitive and leaves his heart on the court.

Q: Which teammate do you admire the most?
A: I admire all my teammates. All of them have goals and they give their best during practice and during competition. This is how we improve ourselves and that's the way to be successful.

Q: What do you want your legacy to be when you leave FIU?
A: After FIU, I would like to be remembered for my achievements in both tennis and school. I'll give my best to make it happen.

Q: What it is like to be part of the Panther community?
A: Being part of the Panther community is like being a part of a second family. I'm really happy that I'm part of it.

Q: What is one place you dream of traveling to?
A: There are many places I would love to travel to but the first two on my list are Thailand and Japan.

Q: What do your days look like now that the season is over?
A: I'm still doing school work, and I work out as much as possible. Besides that I'm spending time with my friends and watching movies.
