BIRMINGHAM, ALA (January 16, 2022) - Sophomore
Filippa Miller broke her own school record in the pole vault Saturday at the UAB Vulcan Invitational with a mark of 4.02m (13', 2.25") to earn the victory in the event.
RESULTS
Miller bested her previous best mark of 4.00m, which was set at the USF Invitational last April.
Junior
Kristin Lubeskie earned the runner-up spot in the event, finishing with a mark of 3.82m.
In the shot put, freshman
Michaelle Valentin earned the victory in the weight throw with a mark of 18.10m, while posting another personal best performance in the shot put, throwing 12.96m.
Marqueisha Weeks came right behind with a fourth place mark of 12.65m.
In the jumps, freshman
Alyiah Eugene took a fifth place finish with a PR of 5.45m.
"This was a solid opening weekend for us to evaluate where we are at," said head coach
Ryan Heberling. "It was great to see Filippa get off to such a great start with the record, and everyone in that event performed very well. Now we get back to work in preparation for our next competition at the end of the month."
The Panthers will compete at the South Carolina Invite January 28-29 in Columbia, South Carolina.
