MIAMI (Feb. 22, 2022) - Stephanie Hussey and Lamija Medosevic of the FIU women's swimming and diving team have been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

FIU stands as one of only two programs in C-USA, along with Marshall, to have two of its student-athletes grace the league's All-Academic Team. The six-member team was selected by a vote of each institution's academic advisors. In order to qualify for nomination, student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and serve as a key competitor of their respective team.

Hussey, a graduate student pursuing a Master of  Health Services Administration, currently owns a 4.0 GPA. Hussey has made the Dean's List every year at FIU (nine semesters) and has been a Commissioner's Academic Medal Award recipient every semester.

In the pool, Hussey garnered Conference USA Swimmer of the Week on two occasions during the 2021-22 season. Hussey helped FIU break a record in the 400 medley relay (3:42.66) and also broke a Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center (BBAC) pool record in the 400 IM (4:15.70) at the 2021 TYR Fall Classic. In the 400 freestyle relay (3:24.51), Hussey helped shatter another BBAC pool record. On day two of the 2021 Purdue Invitational, Hussey broke the FIU record in the 100 butterfly (52.85). Hussey swam an NCAA B Standard and lifetime best in the 50-yard freestyle on day one of Purdue Invitational (22.73), which also stands as the seventh-fastest 50 freestyle time in FIU history.

Medosevic, a junior, owns a 3.92 GPA in Mathematical Sciences and has been named to the Dean's List all five of her semesters at FIU. Medosevic has also been a Commissioner's Academic Medal Award recipient every semester.

In the pool, Medosevic helped FIU post the fastest 800 relay time (7:15.32) in program history while competing at a mid-season invitational meet (2021 Purdue Invitational). Medosevic also helped set a Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center record in the 400 freestyle relay (3:24.51) at the 2021 TYR Fall Classic. In the 200 freestyle relay at the TYR Fall Classic, Medosevic contributed to a second-place finish with a collective time of 1:33.19. At the Purdue Invite, Medosevic also helped FIU take third-place in both the 200 medley relay B Final (1:40.99) and the 200 freestyle relay A Final (1:30.28). Individually, Medosevic finished third in the 100 freestyle B Final (52.42) at the TYR Classic, while securing fifth in both the 200 freestyle (1:56.39) against the Miami Hurricanes and the 100 backstroke B Final (56.01) at the Purdue Invite.
