2022 BLUE & GOLD AWARDS PHOTO GALLERY
MIAMI – The FIU Athletic Department held its annual awards gala, the Blue & Gold Awards banquet on Monday night before a packed house of FIU student-athletes, coaches and staff members at the SASC ballroom.
Each athletic program received recognition and honor for their accomplishments throughout the 2021-22 academic year, including the nominees for the FIU Male and Female Athletes of the Year, which include Christie Chue (women's swimming), Rhema Otabor (track & field), Tyrese Chambers (football) and Queshun Riggins (track). The winners of those awards will be announced later this summer.

Scott Carr, FIU's Director of Athletics, followed with the opening remarks, which highlighted all the individual and team accomplishments for each sport during the 2021-22 year.
Academically, FIU Athletics also enjoyed a tremendous 2021-22 as a total of 79 student-athletes have and are scheduled to graduate from the 2021 Fall Semester through the 2022 Summer Term.
In addition, Panther student-athletes boasted a combined overall 3.35 grade point average and had a total of 252 student-athletes post a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
With spring sports still pending, FIU has had over 120 student-athletes earn All-Academic status by Conference USA.
