CORAL GABLES, Fla (April 8, 2022) - FIU sophomore Demetris Dorceus highlighted the opening day of the Hurricane Alumni Invitational, earning a second place finish in the discus with a mark of 52.08m that places him second all-time in FIU outdoor history. 

Dorceus' mark surpasses Michael Montero's throw of 51.33m at the 2012 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships. 

In the women's discus, Qua'liyyah Taylor placed fourth with a mark of 45.17m. 

In the pole vault, Filippa Miller continued her impressive outdoor campaign with a third place finish out of 14 competitors - vaulting 3.92m this weekend. 

Action continues Saturday with the javelin beginning at 11:30 am,
