MIAMI, Fla. – After finishing the 2022 season ranked 43rd in the nation, the FIU women's tennis team has been selected to compete in the prestigious 2023 ITA Kickoff Weekend.

The No. 43 Panthers drew the Coral Gables, Fla. regional in which No. 9 Miami is the host. Joining FIU and Miami are No. 19 UCLA and No. 35 Iowa State.

The field, comprised of 15 host sites, was decided via the ITA Women's Kickoff Weekend Draft, with teams from around the country receiving the opportunity to choose which host site they would prefer to play at. The 15 host sites were predetermined based on 2022 year-end rankings. Selection order was based on year-end finish, starting with the No. 16 ranked team and running until all the spots were filled.

The 14
th annual running of the event will take place Saturday and Sunday, January 28-29, 2023. The winner of the Miami regional will then advance to the ITA Indoor National Championships.

This past season, the Panthers finished 17-5 and 3-0 in the Conference USA. FIU made its 11
th appearance in program history in the NCAA Tournament in 2022, while also notching its second consecutive appearance in back-to-back seasons.
