MIAMI – Former FIU football standouts Maurice Alexander and Alex McGough will be on opposite sidelines at the 2022 USFL Championship Game, which is slated for Sunday, July 3 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET for the FOX national broadcast.

Alexander has helped guide the Philadelphia Stars to a championship game berth following a season which has seen him lead the USFL with an average of 31.5 yards per kickoff return and a league-best total of 787 yards.

He also ranks fifth among USFL leaders with an average of 12.6 yards per punt return.

McGough appeared in seven games for the Birmingham Stallions while competing 39-of-75 passes for 460 yards and three touchdowns.  He is not expected to see action on Sunday due to injury.

McGough was selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks after compiling 9,091 passing yards and a program record 65 career touchdowns from 2014-17.

In all, a total of five former Panthers played in the USFL this season, as Anthony Jones (RB), Kai Absheer (OL) and Ike Brown (DB) each played for the New Orleans Breakers this season, one of the other two teams that advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 USFL Playoffs.
