DALLAS, Texas - FIU's
Karissa Kilby was tabbed the Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week presented by Blenders Eyewear on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by the league office, after leading FIU with a top-10 finish in its season-opening tournament at the Coeur d'Alene Invitational on Sept. 18-20.
The nod marks the first Golfer of the Week honor for Kilby in her career at FIU.
Kilby, a native of Honolulu, Hawaii, continued her momentum after a promising freshman campaign, finishing even with a score of 213 behind a tournament-best 13 birdies and career low first-round 67 to lead the Panthers tied for eighth individually after Tuesday's final round in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
After leading the opening day of action with six birdies for a tournament low 4-under-par 67 on Sunday, the sophomore would finish 2-over-par with a 74 in Monday's second round to remain in the top 10 (T10) prior to using four birdies en route to carding a 72 (+1) to secure the top-10 finish.
Additionally, Kilby led the field in par-5 scoring (-6) over the three-day span to notch her fourth career top-10 finish.
