MIAMI – FIU junior wide receiver Kris Mitchell has been added to the 2023 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, it was announced by The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc., the Florida-based creator and sponsor of the prestigious Biletnikoff Award on Wednesday.
 
Mitchell currently ranks 11th among all FBS players and leads Conference USA with 636 receiving yards over the first seven games of 2023.  He is averaging 90.9 receiving yards per game, which sits as the 18th best total in FBS.
 
The Jacksonville, Fla., native has shown a knack for the big play as he has recorded a total of 13 catches this season over 20 yards and five grabs of 40 yards or more.  He has snared four touchdown passes this season - including a pair that went for over 60 yards each.
 
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver, not merely college football's outstanding wide receiver.
 
The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of 650 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers. Foundation trustees do not vote and have never voted.
 
Mitchell was one of five players added to the list, which now totals 59 candidates for the prestigious honor.
