MIAMI — FIU's tennis doubles duo of Oyinlomo Quadre and Ekaterina Khairutdinova earned qualification to ITA Nationals through their appearance in the Southeast Regional Finals this weekend.
The duo becomes FIU's first to qualify for ITA Nationals since 2017. They defeated opponents from UCF, Kennesaw State, Florida State and FAU on their way to a close battle with the University of Miami in the finals.
The tandem won the first set 7-6, but fell in the second and a tie-break, 11-9, to get narrowly edged out by Miami.
Quadre and Khairutdinova advance to the 2023 ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif. November 1-5.
