Volleyball Announces Spring 2024 Roster Additions

MIAMI — FIU's volleyball program, under the direction of head coach Cristina Robertson, announces three new additions to the roster for this Spring.
 
The Panthers will welcome transfers Sydney Dennis, Anna Feldkamp and Joya Screen to the team, all three of whom have a strong playing background at their previous Division I stops. 
 
"We are incredibly excited to have Sydney, Anna, and Joya join our FIU Volleyball family. They have all played at a high level and are going to help increase the level of competition within our program," commented Robertson.
 
"All three have the ability to contribute to our team right away and will be instrumental in our program continuing to move forward. They are all wonderful people who fit well into our team culture and will help us drive the vision we have for FIU Volleyball. We are excited to have them in our gym this Spring."
 
Sydney Dennis | Junior | 5-6 | Libero | Clarence, Iowa | Iowa
 
Dennis saw significant court time at Iowa in her previous two seasons as a Hawkeye, playing in a total of 51 matches. The backline defender amassed 528 digs, an average of 3.05 digs per set, during her time in Iowa City.  
 
As a prep, Dennis was a three-time Team MVP at Mount Vernon High School, helping the Mustangs to a second-place finish at the Iowa State Tournament her senior season. She racked up 2,289 career assists and 1,061 career digs for the Mustangs.
 
Coaches Comments: "Sydney is a talented libero who competed at a high level as a starting libero in the Big Ten. She plays with a lot of energy and is very quick on the floor. She leads by example and is a very dynamic athlete. Her calm demeanor will help our team succeed through tough situations."
 
Anna Feldkamp | Graduate Student | 6-1 | Olathe, Kan. | Loyola Chicago
 
Feldkamp was a force in the middle for a strong Loyola Chicago program, racking up over 180 kills in each of the past three seasons. Feldkamp and her teammates advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and were perennially one of the top programs in both the Missouri Valley and Atlantic 10 Conferences. In her career, she totaled 644 kills for the Ramblers, an average of 1.75 kills per set. Feldkamp also posted 285.0 total blocks, including a career-high of 103.0 total blocks in her senior season. 
 
As a prep, she won two state titles and led her team to the state championship match four different times. She was named All-State in high school and also helped her club program to the USAV Open Division Championships from 2015-18.  
 
Coaches Comments: "Anna is a talented and experienced middle blocker who is versatile at the net. She has a calm demeanor and is determined to be a great leader for us. Her work ethic, experience, and athleticism make her a huge asset to our program. Her desire to continue improving is what sets her apart."
 
Joya Screen | Freshman | 6-3 | Suwanee, Ga. | Baylor
 
Screen joins FIU from Baylor, which advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament this past season. The nationally-ranked Bears defeated James Madison in the first round of the postseason before falling to Kentucky in the second round and held a top-25 ranking for much of the 2023 campaign. 
 
In high school, she earned recognition as an AVCA First Team All-American along with earning Georgia's 7A State Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. Screen was also named an AVCA All-Region performer two times and led North Gwinnett to three regional titles. During her senior season, she also named the Region Player of the Year. 
 
Coaches Comments: 'Joya is a physical, talented, and versatile player at the net. She can provide a lot offensively and fits well with our current personnel. She is accustomed to winning at a high level which makes us excited to bring her into our team culture. Her desire to improve and sweet nature are big assets to our program."
