MIAMI — FIU's Ekaterina Khairutdinova was recognized by Conference USA (CUSA) as its Player of the Month for October, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Khairutdinova earned Player of the Month accolades following her victory at the ITA Southeast Regionals in Atlanta. The junior from Krasnodar, Russia is the first-ever ITA Southeast Regional Individual Champion in the history of FIU's women's tennis program.
She also earned an automatic berth to the upcoming NCAA Individual Championships Nov. 19-23 in Waco, Texas. Oyinlomo Quadre will join her at the NCAA Championships, marking the first time that FIU has had multiple individuals in the NCAA Championships in Coach Katerina Petrovic's tenure.
At the ITA Southeast Regionals, Khairutdinova defeated opponents from Miami, Florida State, Georgia and UCF on her way to the title.
