Dallas, Texas - Junior Zuzanna Bielak and graduate student Lucie Pokorna have been awarded Conference USA Pair of the Week honors for the period ending April 15.

FIU Beach Volleyball competed in the Florida Atlantic Burrow Beach Bash, going undefeated in the event against Tulane, South Carolina, No. 16 Stetson and No. 18 Florida Atlantic.

The pair of Bielak and Pokorna went undefeated, playing all of their matches on court three for the duration of the event. In their first match of the invite, the duo cruised to a win in straight sets, winning 21-14 and 21-13 against Tulane University. The pair's second match against South Carolina proved to be a little more work for FIU's duo. Bielak and Pokorna dropped their first set, before prevailing and winning their next two sets, 21-19 and 15-12 to start day one of the Beach Bash 2-0.

Day two of the invite produced much of the same results, going 2-0 against two ranked teams. Starting with No. 16 Stetson, the pair won their first set, 21-18 before dropping their second, but battled back to grab a 16-14 win and give the Panthers a crucial second point in a 3-1 victory for FIU. The final match for the Panthers was against in-state rival Florida Atlantic. Bielak and Pokorna bested the Owls' on court three in three sets, battling to a 21-16 win in the first set before dropping their second, but prevailed in their third set, 15-13 to complete their undefeated invite.

At 20 wins on the season, the pair of Zuzanna Bielak and Lucie Pokorna is the second leading pair in wins on the season for FIU, with six wins against ranked opponents, also second on the team. This is the first time this season the duo has won Conference USA Pair of the Week, and the second time this season a Panther pair has won the award, with Giada Bianchi and Reka Orsi Toth being honored earlier this season. 

UP NEXT

With their regular season completed, The Panthers have their eyes set on the Conference USA tournament, to be played April 25-27. Opponents are yet to be determined.
