Women’s Track and Field’s Keszthelyi and Valentin Honored as Conference USA Athletes of the Week

The FIU duo set a program and freshman record in New York City

MIAMI — FIU women's track and field's Luca Keszthelyi and Michaelle Valentin were recognized as Conference USA's (CUSA) Freshman and Athlete of the Week, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Keszthelyi won the long jump at the Scarlet Knight Invitational, setting a freshman record in the process. Valentin earned her second-straight Athlete of the Week award after claiming a victory in the weight throw with both a school and Haitian national record. 

Keszthelyi leaped a distance of 1.81 meters, a mark that is second-all time at FIU, to win the high jump in New York City. She currently sits tied-19th among all NCAA competitors in the high jump. 

Valentin completed a throw of 21.91 meters, breaking her own school record. The Haiti-native also set a new best mark for her nation. Currently, 21.91 meters is the 10th-best mark in the weight throw in NCAA Division I.
