DALLAS - FIU's Volleyball and Women's Basketball programs have been honored with the Conference USA (CUSA) Sport Academic Awards, which are presented annually to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year.
FIU Volleyball posted an impressive 3.71 team GPA in the Fall semester, followed by a 3.73 GPA in the Spring, the highest among all FIU athletic programs for the semester. Junior libero Mandi Morioka, who is majoring in International Business and Marketing, was named to the CUSA All-Academic Team after achieving a 3.94 GPA in the Fall.
FIU Women's Basketball recorded a 3.59 team GPA in the Fall and a 3.48 in the Spring. Four players were recognized on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team: seniors Bineta Diatta (3.67 GPA, Interdisciplinary Studies), Isnelle Natabou (3.73, Health Services Administration), Lucia Fleta Robles (3.89, Early Childhood Education), and Aaliyah Pitts (3.92, Hospitality Management).
This marks the second consecutive year that FIU Women's Basketball has earned the CUSA Sport Academic Award.
