MIAMI — FIU football's quarterback Keyone Jenkins has been selected to the 2025 Maxwell Award watch list, as announced by the Maxwell Football Club on Monday.
Jenkins, a rising junior signal-caller for the Panthers, is one of 80 players across the entire Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) landscape to be named to this prestigious list. Additionally, he is one of just 14 players outside of the Power Four conferences to earn this recognition.
The Maxwell Award is presented annually to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell, who was a former standout at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official.
A native of the '305', Jenkins was previously named the 2025 Conference USA (CUSA) Preseason Offensive Player of the Year following an impressive sophomore campaign. He threw for 2,557 yards and had 22 passing touchdowns, the second-most in CUSA, in 2024. His 22 passing touchdowns in a season were the second-most in program history for any FIU quarterback, only trailing James Morgan's 26 in 2018.
Jenkins ranked first in CUSA and 19th-nationally in passing efficiency last season, completing 62 percent of his passes and averaging 13.6 yards per completion. The Miami Central-prep was also selected as an All-CUSA Preseason Second Teamer by both Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
For his career, Jenkins has totaled 41 total touchdowns, 33 passing and eight rushing, and has thrown for 4,971 yards. Heading into his junior campaign, the two-year starter sits sixth all-time in passing yards and pass completions and fifth all-time in passing touchdowns.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced November 11, 2025, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled November 25, 2025. The winner of the 89th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 11, 2025. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Friday March 13, 2026 in Atlanta, Georgia.
