MIAMI – Former FIU baseball standout and current Cleveland Guardians pitcher Logan Allen has been selected to represent Team Panama in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, as announced Thursday evening.

Allen, who is entering his fourth season with Cleveland, becomes the first Panther in program history to be named to a World Baseball Classic roster.

Team Panama will compete in Pool A at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from March 6–11, with games airing live on FOX, FS1 and FS2.

A Deltona, Florida native, Allen starred at FIU from 2018–20, posting three impactful seasons in the Blue & Gold. During his collegiate career, Allen logged 183.2 innings, struck out 246 batters across 30 starts, and compiled a 3.33 ERA. His 246 strikeouts rank sixth all-time in program history.

Allen earned Freshman All-America honors in 2018 after striking out 85 batters, the second-most by a freshman in a single season at FIU. In 2020, he was named Conference USA Preseason Pitcher of the Year and a Preseason All-American, going 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 25.2 innings before his season was cut short due to COVID-19.

Allen was selected by Cleveland in the second round (56th overall) of the 2020 MLB Draft, becoming the third-highest draft pick in FIU history and the 23rd Panther selected in the MLB Draft.

The left-hander is coming off a strong 2025 season with the Guardians, making 29 starts, earning eight wins, and throwing 156.2 innings at the Major League level.
