Biography

2005: Emerged into the starting rotation, pitching 101 2/3 innings in 18 starts en route to a 7-3 record...pitched complete games against Rutgers (3/13) and Savannah State (4/30)...struck out 13 batters against the Scarlet Knights and gave up four hits in a 13-0 shutout, en route to being the first FIU freshman since Derek DeCarlo in 2002 to earn Sun Belt Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week honors...against La Salle (2/20), he struck out 12 and allowed just one hit in seven innings of work...FIU won 13 of the 18 games in which he was the starting pitcher...in 10 appearances, went six-plus innings...gave up four hits or less on six occasions...offensively, picked up his first collegiate hit against Arkansas-Little Rock (5/22).

Prior to FIU: As a pitcher, posted a 10-3 record, 109 strikeouts and a 1.15 ERA as a senior at Westminster Academy, ne of the nation’s top prep programs in 2004...a two-time All-Broward selection by The Miami Herald...played in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association's all-star series following his senior season...a four-year starter in high school.
