2007: Made 10 appearances in relief, totaling 11.0 innings and a 12.27 ERA...compiled a 0.00 ERA in three road appearances, allowing only one hit in 4.2 innings... threw a scoreless eighth inning at Florida Atlantic (5/18), issuing one walk...gave up three runs on five hits in one inning of work against Middle Tennessee (5/12)...posted his best performance of the season at Florida A&M (5/7), holding the Rattlers hitless and scoreless in three innings of relief...gave up two runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning against Lafayette (3/30)...yielded two runs on four hits in 1.1 innings of relief against Manhattan (3/14)...struck out one and gave up two runs on three hits in an inning of work against Rutgers (3/9)...threw two-thirds of an inning in the second game of a doubleheader against Rhode Island (2/24) and gave up three runs with a walk and a strikeout...struck out one in a perfect seventh inning against Florida A&M (2/17)...gave up four runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning against Missouri (2/9)...made his season debut at Central Florida (2/3) and threw two-thirds of an inning of relief in the 5-3 win.

2006: Finished second on the team with 22 appearances, including one start...went 1-0 with a 6.13 ERA in 47.0 innings with 31 strikeouts and 26 walks...recorded his lone victory in a season-high seven inning appearance out of the bullpen against New York Tech (3/5)...struck out five in 6.2 innings against Maine (3/14)...went at least one inning in 15 appearances and more than two innings in eight of those...went 4.2 innings, where he allowed six hits, two runs (both earned) and struck out four against Arkansas-Little Rock (5/19)...made an appearance against every Sun Belt Conference team, including two appearances against Arkansas State, Troy and Louisiana-Lafayette.

Prior to FIU: Posted a 1-1 record with a 4.21 ERA over 18 appearances for Barry in 2005...his 18 appearances tied for the second most on the squad...struck out a season-high four batters against Dowling College (3/6)...named to the Dean’s List for accomplishments in the classroom...attended Florida Christian High School with current teammate Kyle Preshong, where they won a state title in 2004...posted a .079 ERA with 92 strikeouts and 10 walks as a senior at Florida Christian...shared team co-MVP honors with Preshong.

Personal: Born October 30, 1985...son of Enrique and Maria Horstmann...has one sister, Monica Alvarez...enjoys playing the guitar, scuba diving and traveling in his spare time...an accounting major.
