Prior to FIU: Played four years of baseball at Gulliver Prep...Second Team All-Dade selection at first base as a senior...won his team’s Gold Glove Award his final three seasons of high school ball...won his team’s hitting title as a freshman with a .400 average, helping lead Gulliver to the 2003 State Championship...hit .390 as a senior, .310 as a junior and .298 as a sophomore...earned All-Dade honors as a junior as well...four-year member of the “A” and “B” Honor Rolls...chose FIU over interest from Barry, Duke, Clemson and Alabama.

 

Personal: Born September 23, 1987...son of Leo Mirabal and Elsie Del Carmen Fernandez...has an older sister, Karina...majoring in health sciences with career aspirations of becoming a doctor.
