Prior to FIU: Named to the NJCAA All-Star Team as a sophomore...earned all-conference and all-academic team honors in his first year at Broward Community College...selected as team MVP following his freshman year...played at nearby Florida Christian High School, earning all-state honors twice and All-Miami-Dade honors three times...as a senior, he hit at a .407 clip with two home runs and 25 RBI.

Personal: Born November 14, 1984...son of Helmer and Magaly Batista...accounting major.
