Prior to FIU: Played at East Los Angeles with fellow newcomer Kurt Crowell, last year...transferred there after spending his freshman season at Los Angels City College...pitched and played third base en route to earning the team’s Best All-Purpose Athlete Award at East Los Angeles CC...last year, second on the team with 33 RBI and eight doubles while hitting at a .333 clip...on the mound, posted a 5-2 record with a 2.70 ERA...at John Burroughs High School, he was a three-year letterwinner in football and baseball...hit .425 with 10 home runs and recorded a 10-2 record with a 1.90 ERA.

Personal: Born October 17, 1985...son of Jesse and Alicia Perez...criminal justice major...brother, Jesse, played baseball at Cal State Northridge.
