2006: The No. 1 pitcher in the FIU rotation with a team-best 10-7 record...compiled a 4.33 ERA, three complete games, 126.2 innings pitched and 117 strikeouts...ranked third in the conference in strikeouts and his 10 wins ranked 34th nationally...pitched a complete game against conference foes Arkansas State (3/24) and Louisiana-Lafayette (4/21)...struck out six or more batters in 12 of 19 appearances...gave up just 20 extra-base hits...went six innings in 14 of 18 starts, seven innings in 11 starts and eight innings in seven.

Prior to FIU: Spent two seasons at Young Harris Junior College and Spartanburg Methodist Junior College, where he posted a 15-5 record...went 8-1 in 2005 at Spartanburg Methodist...graduated magna cum laude, earning NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American honors...began college at the University of South Carolina, redshirting his freshman year...attended J.H. Rose High School and earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior...as a senior, posted a 5-1 record with a 1.81 ERA.

Personal: Born September 1, 1983...son of Ted and Lynn Whitley... father played at East Carolina from 1965-1967...named to the 2005-06 Sun Belt Commissioner’s List for academic excellence...a business major with an emphasis in real estate.
