2018 (Freshman) - Started in all 18 games as goalkeeper during her freshman year as an FIU Panther...Logged 1,640 minutes during the 2018 season with one overtime game against LA Tech...Velasquez posted 109 saves with a season-high 13 saves against North Texas (Oct . 21)...The freshman led in conference overall for saves per game, making 6.06 saves per game on the season.

Prep:  Named to the Miami Herald’s All-Dade First Team as a senior at Coral Reef Senior High School… Won the district championship with Coral Reef as a junior… As a senior, the goalkeeper posted 16 shutouts and only allowed five goals for the year.

Academics/ Community Service: Majoring in political science at FIU… Earned a spot on her high school’s honor roll and graduated in the top 2% of the academy… Member of the Spanish Honor Society… Volunteers with the Key Club.

Personal: Born in Miami, Florida… Attended Coral Reef Senior High School where she graduated in 2018… Daughter of Johnny and Christine Velazquez… Has two older sisters, Alyssa and Cassandra… Chose FIU because of its diversity… In 10 years she hopes to be a successful political activist… The biggest influence on her career has been her father… Describes herself as determined, passionate and intelligent… Holds a dual citizenship.
