Prior to FIU: Attended Summit Christian High School in Lake Worth, Fla., where he lettered for four years under Head Coach John Crouin... Drafted in the 31st round of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft by the Baltimore Orioles... Florida small school Player of the Year in 2011... First-Team All-State... Compiled a 9-1 record with a 2.52 ERA while striking out 97 batters in 69.1 innings his senior season... At the plate, he hit .390 with two homers, eight doubles and 16 RBI... Rose to the occasion in the Class 1A state semifinals by pitching a complete-game six-hitter, defeating two-time defending state champion Deltona-Trinity, 9-3, en route to an eventual state title... Named All-Area by the Palm Beach Post... 2011 Florida Region All American Honorable Mention... Won the teams' outstanding leadership award his freshman and senior seasons... Was on the Principals Honor Roll all four years.
