Jermaine Felix is in his third season as an assistant coach for track and field after serving as a graduate assistant, and is the primary coach for the 400-meter and 800-meter athletes, while also assisting in recruiting operations.
In 2010, Felix was named FIU’s MVP on the men’s side. He was also an outstanding student-athlete during his four years at the school. A four-year letter winner at FIU, Felix holds the school records in the 1,600-meter medley (3:25.47) and as a junior Felix was a member of 4x200 meter relay team that broke a 17-year-old school record at New Balance Invitational (1:30.05). He also holds the second-best time in school history in the indoor 400-meter (48.40) and 4x400 meter relay (3:15.31).
Before landing a spot on FIU’s staff, Felix coach at Orlando track and field power house Colonial High School. As Colonial’s sprint coach, Felix helped the girl’s program win a Metro East, district and region championship in 2012. On the men’s side, Felix aided them in achieving a district and region championship, as well as a runner-up finish at the FHSAA State meet.Â
Felix graduated from FIU with a Bachelors of business administration in management and human resource. He is currently finishing a master’s of science in curriculum and instruction with emphasis in social studies education.
