Biography

2007 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference

 

Junior (2006): FIU’s leadoff hitter and centerfielder... Garnered First-Team All-Sun Belt honors... Hit five triples, which ranks tied for the most in a season all-time at FIU and second in the Sun Belt... Perhaps became best-known for her defensive reputation, having saved the team on numerous occasions with diving catches and her strong arm...  The most significant came in the bottom of the seventh of FIU’s extra-innings win at then-No. 15 Louisiana-Lafayette when she threw out Kelsey Cammarata at the plate for the third out with what would’ve been UL’s game-winning run...  Tied for the team lead and was second in the conference with 24 stolen bases, and her team-high 38 runs scored is the third-highest single season total in team history... She was also second on the team in batting average (.286)... Displayed the longest Golden Panther hitting streak (eight games) of the season from April 15-30... Ranked fourth in the Sun Belt with 11 runs scored during conference play.

 

Sophomore (2005): One of only two Golden Panthers to start in all 62 games... Led the squad in hits (53), multiple-hit games (13), runs scored (25), and was second in stolen bases with 19, a total that ranked fourth in the Sun Belt and contributed to FIU’s No. 11 national ranking... Her .261 batting average was third on the team and was a 142-point improvement from her freshman season... Had a seven-game hitting streak to tie for FIU’s third-longest of the season... Made just one error in 74 chances (.986 fielding percentage)... Scored a season-high three runs in an 11-2, five-inning win over Siena (3/25)... Went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a 3-2 victory over UCF (2/25).

 

Freshman (2004): Missed parts of the season due to a hamstring injury... Tied for third on the team in stolen bases (8)... Had four-straight games with a stolen base from Feb. 21-27... Enjoyed a four-game hitting streak from Feb. 20-27, culminating with a 2-for-2, two-run performance in a win over Stony Brook (2/27).

 

Prior to FIU: Lettered three years in softball for Bartow High School... Team was state champions in 2002 and 2003, while the 2003 team was ranked No. 1 in the country... First-team all-county selection... Also played basketball for four years and was the team MVP in 2003.

 

Personal: Born December 27, 1984, in Lakeland, Fla.... Daughter of Angelo and Donna Murray... Has three brothers, Tavares (23) and Antwon (16) Murray and Angelo Jackson... Majoring in accounting.
