Biography

 

Junior (2005-06): Started all 27 regular season games before sustaining an ankle sprain, which caused her to miss the postseason... One of three Golden Panthers ranked among the league’s top 10 in blocked shots, finishing third on the team with 23... Averaged 5.9 rebounds and 4.1 points per game... Shot 43.3 percent from the field with a career-high 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting versus Middle Tennessee (2/2)... Grabbed double-figure rebounds three times with a career-high 12 boards in the win over Western Michigan (11/25).

 

Sophomore (2004-05): Saw action in 20 games, including starting the first four of the season... Averaged 2.3 points and 2.2 rebounds an outing... Shot 54.3 percent from the field, scoring a season-high eight points in the season-opener versus Bucknell (11/19) and at Arkansas State (2/12)... Pulled down a season-high five rebounds three times ? versus South Florida (11/20), Florida Atlantic (12/11) and Stony Brook (12/28).

 

Freshman (2003-04):  Played in 13 games, with a season-high 12 minutes versus Radford (1/2)... Grabbed a season-high eight rebounds in that contest... Posted season-best performance versus Appalachian State (11/28), setting season highs in points (7) and blocks (2)... Shot 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in that game... Dished out an assist three times, including in the season opener versus Temple (11/22).

 

Prep Career:  Averaged 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game... Received several awards, including being named team’s best center in 2000... Competed in the European Championship with several youth national teams.

 

Personal:  Born February 5, 1985... Parents are Ilgvars Bernsone and Aija Rutmane... Has four siblings ? Marcis (18), Aiga (18), Ervins (15) and Agnese (11)... Nicknames are Lee, Lilly and Berzonito... Named to the Dean’s List in Fall 2003 and to the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll for 2003-04... Over the summer of 2005, placed third in the European Junior Championships with teammate Lasma Jekabsone as part of the Latvian Junior National Team... Off the court, enjoys swimming and reading books... A management major.
