Nick Yang

Nick Yang joined the FIU Swimming and Diving staff as a Volunteer Diving Coach in July 2019 and was  promoted to a full-time position on November, 19, 2019 to serve as the Diving Coach for the program.

Having made stops at the University of Minnesota where he was a member of the Golden Gophers men’s diving team, Yang brings with him, an impressive resume.

 

In the two years that Yang competed with Minnesota, he made back-to-back appearances at the NCAA Championships, received All-American Honors and broke two school records. His best finish was during the platform event at the National Competition where he placed 5th with a score of 523.55 which marks as a school record.

After just 90 days on staff at FIU, Coach Yang received a promotion to serve as a full-time member of the swim and dive staff. 

Yang's coaching experience began with a volunteer position at Minnesota under diving coach Wenbo Chen, where he assisted at summer camps. Prior to that, Yang worked as an assistant diving coach in his home country of China, focusing on children aged 12-16 where he learned the most about management, leadership and respect. 

 

A native of Chaohu City, Anhui Province, China. Chang holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration from the University of Minnesota.
