Box Score In a game that will go down as one of the highest scoring games in Shula Bowl history, FAU outlasted FIU 57-50 in overtime. Golden Panthers quarterback Paul McCall set a new school record throwing for 400 yards on 27-41 passing, including four touchdowns, two of which were to freshman wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.
The fourth quarter alone produced 56 points on eight touchdowns, four for each side. Freshman Darriet Perry made his collegiate debut and did so in style, rushing for 115 yards with two scores, the second of which put FIU up 50-36 with three minutes to play.
FAU battled back, scoring two touchdowns in the final 2:08 of the game on a Coretz Gent eight yard touchdown reception and a Jamari Grant 11-yard reception with 18 seconds remaining in regulation. Then in overtime, FAU received the ball first and scored on a Gent nine-yard touchdown reception. The Golden Panthers couldn't answer as McCall was sacked on fourth down to secure the Owls win.
For FIU, T.Y. Hilton finished the game with 99 receiving yards and two receiving scores, giving him 969 yards for the season, a new FIU single-season record. The freshman also ran for one touchdown. Sophomore Greg Ellingson finished with a game-high seven catches for 138 yards and one score.
