Huntington, W.Va. (Oct. 2) --- The FIU men's soccer team fell to the Marshall Thundering Herd, 2-0, on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Sam Hood Field in Huntington, W.Va.
Two second-half goals by Marshall (7-2-2, 2-1 C-USA) handed the Panthers (4-4-0, 0-1 C-USA) their second-consecutive loss and first conference defeat of the 2010 season.
After a scoreless first half, Marshall's Sammy Boateng found the back of the net, five minutes into the second stanza. MU's Travis Brent would add an insurance goal in the 63rd minute as he buried a header into the back on the net past FIU keeper Shane Lopez. Lopez finished the contest with seven saves.
FIU was out-shot, 16-14, in the contest and was led by Nicholas Chase and Carlo Schmid, who each registered three shots.
FIU will continue conference play, traveling to Orlando, Fla., to take on the UCF Golden Knights on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
