Tennis Dominates Arkansas State, 7-0

After Mother Nature delayed the start of the match for two hours, the FIU tennis team went to work and got back in the win column with a dominating 7-0 performance against Arkansas State.

The Panthers wasted little time wrapping up the victory, taking all six singles matches, while dropping just one set in the process. The Panthers then capped off the afternoon with a doubles sweep, which was made possible by a come-from-behind victory by the duo of Giulietta Boha and Christine Seredni, who overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat ASU's Janie Nowland and Biljana Miloshevska 8-6.

Much like they did in doubles where they won 8-1, Lisete Brito and Maria Spenceley set the tone on the singles side, winning their matches 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-3, respectively over Emily Crow and Ceara Howey.

For the Panthers, Lisa Johnson defeated Nowland 6-1, 6-4; Christine Seredni beat Jenny Herring 6-1, 6-1; Rita Maisak bested Ioana Ten 4-6, 6-1 (10-6) and Giulietta Boha won 6-3, 6-0 over Miloshveska.

With the win the Panthers improve to 2-5 on the season. Up next for FIU is a home match against the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana on February 26 at 11 a.m.
