FIU Falls in 2OT to Thundering Herd

MIAMI (Sept. 23, 2011) - The FIU men's soccer team (3-4-0, 0-1-0) dropped its first Conference USA match of the season to the Marshall Thundering Herd (4-4-0, 1-0-0), 2-1 in double overtime Friday evening at the FIU Soccer Stadium in Miami, Fla.

FIU's lone goal came in the 79th minute of the match when freshman Arnthor Kristinsson tied it at 1-1 after he launched a shot past the Marshall keeper from a yard inside the box. Freshman Quentin Albrecht was credited with the assist.

After going scoreless in the first overtime, Marshall's Anthony Vigara scored in the 102nd minute of the match to win the contest. The goal was Vigara's second of the night.

The Panthers will return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 25, against the Howard Bison. Match time is set for 1 p.m. ET at the FIU Soccer Stadium.
