COLUMBUS, Ohio (Sept. 4, 2011) - Wrapping up its two-game road trip, the FIU men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Penn State on Sunday afternoon from the campus of Ohio State University in the Wolstein Classic. The Panthers drop to 1-2-1 on the season while the Nittany Lions improve to 3-1-0.
After the start of the game was delayed about 30 minutes, the two teams were even through the first half as neither managed to get on the board.
Then in the 58th minute, Penn State's Jordan Tyler found Mackenzie Arment for the only goal of the match.
It would be the only blemish for FIU goal keeper Eric Reyes, who went all 90 minutes and recorded two saves.
The Panthers had their chances to score throughout the game, edging the Nittany Lions in shots on goal by a 5-3 margin. PSU had more overall shots with 11 to FIU's 10.
FIU returns to the pitch on Friday, Sept. 9, against Stetson at FIU Soccer Stadium. The game is slated to start at 8:30 p.m., right after the women's soccer team hosts Florida Gulf Coast at 6:30 p.m.
