MIAMI (Oct. 15, 2015) – The FIU swimming and diving team will host Dual-a-Palooza this weekend, Oct. 16-17, as Rice, Florida Atlantic and Miami (Fla.) visit the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center Friday and Saturday.
The Panthers will square off against 2015 C-USA runner up Rice on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. On Saturday, FIU will face Florida Atlantic at 10 a.m. followed by No. 24-ranked Miami (Fla.) at 3 p.m.
Last season, FIU claimed the 2015 C-USA Swimming & Diving Championship with a score of 765; 104 points ahead of second-place Rice. The Panthers also faced FAU twice last season, downing the Owls 205-95 (Oct. 4, 2014) and 131.5-91.5 (Jan. 30, 2015), while knocking off the Hurricanes (Jan. 31, 2015), 150-149, to close out the regular season campaign.
FIU comes into this weekend's home-opening event, riding a 13-dual meet winning streak, dating back to Jan. 31, 2014. The Panthers have also won 12-straight at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center in head-to-head competitions.
The Panthers are coming off a dominating performance at North Florida, squaring off against both the Osprey and Georgia Southern on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the UNF Aquatic Center. FIU defeated the Ospreys, 168-90 and downed the Eagles 155-103. FIU claimed 11 first-place finishes on the day, including four by
Jessica Chadwick, who was named this week's C-USA Swimmer of the Week. The Manchester, United Kingdom product posted C-USA top times in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.91) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.85). Chadwick also took the top spot in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.63) and was the second leg of the Panthers' first-place 200-yard Medley Relay team (
Naomi Ruele, Chadwick,
Letizia Bertelli, Jennifer Deist).
