HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Oct. 18, 2015) – The FIU women's soccer team (8-9, 4-4 C-USA) suffered a, 1-0, loss to the Marshall Thundering Herd (11-3-3, 4-2-2 C-USA)
Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers saw a challenging first half with the Thundering Herd outshooting FIU, 10-4. Marshall four of those ten attempts on net, but were all saved by sophomore
Nevena Stojakovic.
After a scoreless 45 minutes, FIU came out of the break looking to grab the momentum in its favor. However, Marshall continued to pressure the Panthers' defense.
The Thundering Herd's Kelly Culicerto, totaling five shots for the match, found the back of the net in the 60
th minute with a shot from outside the 18-yard box to the top, right corner.
Junior
Ellen Crist paced the Panthers with two shots on frame but, could not find the back of the net. Crist along with senior
Madlen Weinhardt led FIU with three shots apiece.
Sunday's match marks the fourth-straight road loss for the Panthers.
