QUICK HITS
- After tipping off the season on Friday night with a 71-39 win over Trinity Baptist, FIU looks to go 2-0 for the second consecutive year as it meets Florida Memorial University ... The win on Friday was the Panthers' third season-opening victory in the past five years.
 
- Monday's game is the second of two straight at home before the Panthers head on the road, for the first time this season ... In addition, beginning with Monday, FIU will play four games in the next six days.
 
- In addition to impressive season-opening outings by Adrian Diaz (15 pts., 11 rbs.) and Daviyon Draper (12 pts.), freshman Kimar Williams netted 10 points, along with five rebounds and five assists, off the bench in his collegiate debut.
 
- Anthony Evans is in his third season as head coach of the Panthers, and his ninth season overall as a head coach ... Last season Evan guided FIU to its first ever Conference USA Tournament win, defeating UTSA, 57-54.
 
- Up next for FIU, the Panthers will travel to the JMU Men Against Breast Cancer Classic in Harrisonburg, Va. (Nov. 20-22) ... FIU will begin play on Nov. 20 against James Madison at 3:30 p.m. ... The Panthers will also face UT Martin (Nov. 21, 7:30 p.m.) and Oral Roberts (Nov. 22, 1 p.m.). 
 
SCOUTING THE LIONS

- After back-to-back wins over the College of the Bahamas, 83-82 (2ot) on Nov. 5, and 69-49 on Nov. 6, Florida Memorial suffered its first defeat of the season on Friday night with a 96-56 loss at Barry.
 
- Samuel Dorismond scored a team-high 11 points, and shared team-high honors with five rebounds ... Aundre Reid also hit double figures with 10 points in the loss.
 
- The Lions shot just 28.6 percent (20-of-70) from the field in the loss, a dismal 17.6 percent (3-of-15) from behind the three-point arc, and 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from the free-throw line ... The Lions also turned the ball over 25 times.
 
- In addition to FIU, the Lions will face NCAA Division I foe Jacksonville (Dec. 2).
 
THE SERIES VS. FLORIDA MEMORIAL
- Monday's game marks the 18th meeting between the two schools - and the first since Nov. 12, 2010 (FIU 89-73 win) with FIU holding a 12-5 series lead ... The Panthers come into the outing having won the last five straight games against the Lions, and eight of the last nine.
 
- FIU holds an 8-3 advantage at home against Florida Memorial in 11 meetings at FIU Arena.
 
- The two schools have played two overtime games, with each winning one ... FIU won the first overtime game, 81-77, on Jan. 18, 1982 in the series opener ... FMU came out on top, 114-107, in overtime on Jan. 15, 1983.
 
THE LAST MEETING VS. FLORIDA MEMORIAL
- FIU and Florida Memorial last met on Nov. 12, 2010 in Miami with the Panthers coming out on top, 89-73.
 
- The Panthers shot 54.0 percent (34-for-63) from the field and 44.4 percent (8-for-18) from behind the three-point arc.
 
- DeJuan Wright scored 21 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, had four steals and three assists in the win ... Eric Frederick added 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Marvin Roberts and Phil Gary chipped in with 14 points and 12 points, respectively.
 
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE PANTHERS
- FIU tipped off its 35th season of basketball on Friday night with a 71-39 win over Trinity Baptist.
 
- The Panthers placed three players in double figures in the win ... Adrian Diaz and Daviyon Draper had their usual productive outings, while Kimar Williams was solid in his collegiate debut off the bench ... Diaz posted his seventh career double-double with a 15-point, 11-rebound effort ... He also added four blocked shots ... Draper netted 12 points and grabbed four boards ... Williams netted 10 points, had five rebounds and five assists.
 
 - Junior college transfer Eric Nottage earned his first career start with the Panthers, scoring three points in 26 minutes of action.
 
- FIUs size dominated the paint against Trinity Baptist, outscoring the Eagles 36-10 ... The Panthers' bench also outscored Trinity Baptist 29-14.
