JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Dec. 6, 2015) – The FIU women's basketball team (2-5) fell to the Jacksonville Dolphins (4-4), 80-44, on Sunday afternoon from the Swisher Gymnasium in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Panthers were led by junior
Janka Hegedus, who scored a game-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Freshman
Kristian Hudson followed Hegedus with nine points, while recording a team-high three steals. Senior
Destini Feagin registered a team-best six boards in the game.
FIU shot 33.3 percent (16-of-48) from the floor and was 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range. JU held the edge in rebounds (49-24), steals (10-4) and points in the paint (44-22). The Dolphins converted 45.8 percent (33-of-72) from the floor and 6-of-24 (25.0 percent) from beyond the arc. Both teams were solid from the free-throw line as FIU made 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the charity stripe and JU drained 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from the free-throw line.
JU forced 18 FIU turnovers resulting in 28 points for the Dolphins.
The Panthers will next travel to Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday, Dec. 15, to take on Cleveland State. Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.
