Sean McFarlane joined the Jamaican National Team camp on Friday as a replacement for the Gold Cup squad. McFarlane is expected to suit up on Saturday when Jamaica takes on Haiti in the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinal at 8 p.m. ET.
During his senior season in 2014, McFarlane played in 15 games, starting in all 15 appearances as a defender. He tallied two goals on the year, logging 1,363 total minutes and playing the full 90 minutes-or-more in 12 games. McFarlane scored his first goal of the season against South Carolina and also added a goal in the 2-1 victory against UCF. He joined the Panther soccer program in 2013 as a junior, where he played in 16 games, making five starts. McFarlane scored his first career goal in an FIU uniform at San Diego State and tallied one of four FIU goals in a victory over Marshall.
Jamaica, who finished atop Group B of the Gold Cup Tournament, will take on Haiti in a quarterfinal encounter at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore starting at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night. Jamaica finished first in the group with seven points by registering 1-0 wins over Canada and El Salvador, and a 2-2 draw against Costa Rica.
McFarlane was recently part of Jamaica's Under-23 team that topped the first round of CFU Olympic qualifiers in the Dominican Republic.
