Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

@FIUWSoccer Takes 1-0 Home Loss Sunday to WKU

MIAMI (October 16, 2016) -- A header off a corner kick in the 62nd minute was the only blemish on the ledger for FIU women's soccer, and the Panthers could not connect on goal despite some good passing in a 1-0 home loss to WKU Sunday afternoon in Conference USA action.

The Lady Toppers were able to get a goal off a corner kick when Dee Dee Green launched the corner across the goal, where Olivia Fitzgerald chipped it up in front for Hannah Chua to head it in for the score from point-blank range.

FIU took seven shots in the game, including two excellent chances in the second half, but WKU keeper Allison Leone made three saves for the shutout.

Junior Paula Quintero (Doral, Florida / Ronald Reagan HS) and senior Alyssa Robinson (Pembroke Pines, Florida / American Heritage HS) led FIU with two shots each.

"A set piece was the difference," said FIU Head Coach Thomas Chestnutt. "Credit to WKU and their performance. They are in first place. We were almost able to tie it late with a ball to Paula, but we will regroup for UTSA and be ready next weekend."

FIU keeper Sophia Trujillo (Miami, Florida / Gulliver Prep) made five saves in the game, after facing 16 shots from the Lady Toppers.

The Panthers have just one game next week, a Sunday road contest at UTSA, on Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern.
