MIAMI (Feb. 27, 2016) -- The FIU softball team took a 7-1 loss against the Delaware Blue Hens (6-4) in game eight of the Felsberg Invitational at Felsberg Field at the FIU Softball Stadium Saturday. The decision drops the Panthers' record to 10-5, while Delaware is now 6-4 on the season.
The Blue Hens were able to scratch single runs in the first two innings and scored twice more in the fourth, all off of senior starting pitcher
Corinne Jenkins (Sarasota, Florida / Riverview HS).

The Panthers got a run back in the sixth when junior
Gabby Spallone (Miami, Florida / Palmetto HS) singled to right field and moved into scoring position on a throwing error by Delaware. Junior
Dani Mowry advanced Spallone with an infield groundout for sophomore AJ Belans (Hollywood, Florida / American Heritage HS) who drove her in with an RBI single to right.
Delaware added to its lead in the top of the seventh with three-consecutive hits to result in three more runs for the game's final scoring margin.
Jenkins took the loss (1-2), allowing seven hits and two walks in four innings. Three of the four runs charged to her were earned. She struck out a batter.

Delaware's Carolyn Szymanski got the win. She allowed just four hits in 5.1 innings, allowing FIU's lone run. She walked four and struck out four.
The Panthers return to action Sunday, February 27, for game 10 of the Felsberg Invitation when they face the Siena Saints.
