The Basics
- The FIU women's soccer team headed to Huntington, West Virginia and Marshall University for the second match of a four-match road stretch. The Panthers battled for 99 minutes of play, however came out on the losing end of a 1-0 decision to the Thundering Herd on Friday night. The loss, FIU's third overtime loss of the year, drops the Panthers to 1-10 on the year and 0-6 in Conference USA. Marshall improves to 5-8-1 and 3-3-1 in league play.

- Marshall took advantage of a red card issued on Felicia Davidson in the 99th minute, which led to a penalty kick, where Ashley Seltzer beat FIU goalkeeper Nevena Stojakovic (Nis, Serbia) for the game-winning goal.  

- In what was a defensive struggle for the majority of the match, FIU held a slight 9-5 shots advantage after 90 minutes of play.

- For the match, Courtney Phillips recorded a game-high three shots and a team-best two shots on goal.

- Stojakovic had five saves on the night in the loss.

Stat of the Game
Although the Panthers outshot the Thundering Herd, 9-5, in regulation, Marshall fired off the only two shots of the extra session.

The Panthers will stay on the road and head to Bowling Green, Kentucky to face WKU on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. ET.
