The Basics
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â FIU lost its final two dual meets of the two-day Dual-A-Pool-Ooza, at Tulane University's Reily Natatorium Saturday afternoon. The Panthers fell by two points, 103-101, to host Tulane in the morning session before a 115-90 loss to Denver in the afternoon session to conclude the event. FIU was third in the Mid-Major poll at CollegeSwimming.com this week. Tulane was ranked fifth and Denver sixth in the same poll. The two-day event featured three unique dual meets in three shortened programs in a 24-hour period.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â FIU finished one-two in the diving events of both duals, with freshman Rachel Foord (Mebourne, Australia) winning the 1-meter springboard in the Tulane meet with a score of 277.60, and later winning the 3-meter program versus Denver with a 324.20 score. Senior Rebecca Quesnel (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) finished second in both programs.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â FIU won the 200 Medley Relay to begin the swimming versus Tulane (1:44.67) and then won four of the next five individual events, but Tulane reeled in the score with wins in the last three to edge out the Panthers.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â FIU won the 100 Medley Relay (48.17) against Denver, but one took first in two individual events of the 10 in the shortened format. Senior Letizia Bertelli (Cremona, Italy) and junior Naomi Ruele (Gaborone, Botswana) finished with the same 24.09 time in the 50 Free for one of those wins.
