The match was Play Pink Night, raising awareness for Breast Cancer Research. FIU falls to 2-8 on the season and a 1-3 start in league matches. Marshall evens its record to 2-2 in league games, 7-12 overall.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The first three sets were separated by the minimum two points, with the first set going to an extra point.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Sophomore libero Helene Thelle (Tolvsrod, Norway) collected a career-high 20 digs in the loss. Â
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Neither team could get momentum in the opening set, with the Panthers limiting the Herd to a -.023 attack percentage in that frame.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â In the second and third sets, the Panthers could only side out the Herd at 51 and 50 percent in those respective stanzas. Â Despite an attack percentage of .351 in the second, the highest for either team in any set of the match, FIU was undone by three serve errors and two more serve receive miscues, the difference in the frame.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The fourth set was all Marshall, with the visitor able to side out the hosts at an 84 percent clip, holding FIU to a -.094 attack percentage. Â
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Panthers places two attackers into a double-digit kills total. Â Junior Margherita Bianchin (Traviso, Italy) had 16 kills and a .271 attack percentage, while senior Taija Thomas (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) delivered 14 kills.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Freshman setter Aleksandra Grigoreva (Moscow, Russia) produced her third double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs.
